BEAUTIFUL "DEAD NATURE WITH FRUIT" TABLE BY Celso LAGAR (1891-1966) Oil on canvas signed lower left 50,5 x 60 cm As it stands Celso Lagar Arroyo, born in Ciudad Rodrigo (Salamanca) on 4 February 1891 and died in Seville on 6 September 1966, was a Spanish expressionist sculptor, painter and lithographer. An artist of the first generation of the School of Paris, where he lived most of his life, he was influenced by the avant-gardes of all kinds such as cubism and fauvism. He mainly painted landscapes and still lifes. He is the husband of the French sculptor Hortense Begué. He became a widower and the end of his life was overshadowed by psychiatric disorders.
