VERY IMPORTANT AND SENTIMENTAL PAINTING "PORTRAIT OF CHILDREN AND A DOG" BY Eugène FAURE (1822-1879) Oil on canvas signed and dated 1860 in the lower right corner. Dim HC : 192 x 138 cm Dim AC : 220 x 164 cm Initially attracted by sculpture, he studied with François Rude and David d'Angers. More attracted by painting, he studied in the workshop of Charles Gleyre. Friend of Theodore Ravanat, he frequented the painters of Grenoble meeting in Proveysieux, making the work of the dogs and the head of chamois on the facade of the village inn. He was a genre painter, a landscape painter and a portraitist who painted his friends but also allegories and nudes. Today, his paintings are mainly kept in the Museum of Grenoble.
