MARQUETTED ENCOIGNURE 18th century attributed to Etienne DOIRAT (1675-1732) In marquetry of wood veneer in frieze, with curved front, opening to two doors with front, with fluted amounts and right feet Marble top 18th century period 89 x 70 x 49 cm Restorations of use and maintenance. Étienne Doirat came from a family of craftsmen - earthenware makers, carpenters - who had settled in the Faubourg Saint-Antoine since the early years of the 17th century. He is the son of the mason Joseph Doirat and Michelle Ferlu, sister of Pierre-Isaac Ferlu, master merchant and cabinetmaker. His younger brother Pierre-Michel will follow the path of master cabinetmaker like him. It was in the early years of the 18th century that he obtained his master's degree. He worked all his life on the rue du Faubourg Saint-Antoine for a rich French and foreign clientele. His furniture is mostly in the Regency style.
