Erró studied art from 1949 to 1954 in Reykjavik, then in Oslo, Norway, and Florence, Italy.
In 1955, he entered the Ravenna Mosaic School.
He moved to Paris in 1958, where he met artists, writers and critics associated with the Surrealist movement, including André Breton, Roberto Matta, Victor Brauner, André Masson, Max Ernst, Man Ray, Joan Miró and Marcel Duchamp.
Erró was one of the founders of the Figuration Narrative movement in France in the early 1960s.
Numerous artists took part in the emergence of this artistic style, including Valerio Adami, Hervé Télémaque and Peter Klasen.
In 1978, one of the artists of this movement, the Peruvian painter Herman Braun-Vega, created a portrait of himself with his active participation, depicting him in his comic-book-inspired artistic universe, accumulating figurative elements detached from their context to the point of delirious proliferation.
