MARITIME ORDINANCE XVIII - Lot 3
MARITIME ORDINANCE XVIII MANUSCRIT REGULATION intended for the COMMIS de LA MARINE. Comprising 430 articles, this document evokes all the aspects of the maritime and military missions; Fights, Captures, Suspect ships, Shipwrecks, Care of the individuals, Armament, etc... etc... A note on the first page mentions the name of M. de MOLIMONT. This Ordinance was probably written, between October 13, 1780 and August 24, 1787, under the Secretary of State of the Marshal of CASTRIES. The American War of Independence gave this great military man the opportunity to reform the Royal Navy in its management and especially in its missions. The intelligence and accuracy of these changes, combined with the contribution of great sailors such as de Grasse, led the Franco-American forces to victory. M. de MOLIMONT may have been the author of this document, or at least was associated with its writing. MANUSCRIT in-folio, 160 pages. Beautiful writing. Very good condition.
