VERY NICE REGENCE MARQUET ENCOIGNURE attributed to MIGEON In veneered wood marquetry adorned with wide ormolu mouldings, with a double-curved front opening onto two doors and resting on a curved plinth. Marble top 18th century, later bronzes 104 x 88 x 45 cm Minor wear and maintenance, defects to the veneer The Migeons were a famous dynasty of cabinetmakers, of whom Pierre Migeon, awarded the title of Master in 1725, was one of the most highly regarded in the 18th century, and still is today, for his high-quality creations. Generally speaking, he is particularly fond of curves and likes to give his furniture a solid yet elegant character. He worked for a renowned clientele including the Duc d'Orléans, the Cardinal de Rohan and the Duchesse d'Épernon. His work is exhibited in museums such as Beauvais, the Petit Palais in Paris, Fontainebleau and even Washington.
