KACHAN CARPET (IRAN), MID-20TH CENTURY. Dimensions : 386 x 267cm. Technical features : Wool velvet on cotton backing. An ivory field covered with multicolored floral stems supports a central polychrome vegetalized rosette and its pendants in the shape of a symbolic oil lamp. The four spandrels, in the same style, are bordered by garlands of waving old gold leaves. Wide ivory border with a succession of multicolored corollas set on floral scrolls, flanked by two leafy cream counter-borders with polychrome garlands of florets. Pared-down graphics.
