KIRMAN RUG (PERSIA), 1st THIRD CENTURY Wool velvet on cotton foundation. On a turquoise field covered with polychrome scrolling flowers, a large poly-lobed medallion in a navy mandorla, decorated with flowering branches, supports an oblong brick medallion, decorated with flowers and Tchis and a heart in an old gold star rosette, as well as its pendants in the form of old gold globes with birds. Six multicolored counter-borders with garlands and branches of flowers frame the main brick-red border with floral composition coffers interspersed with small corollas, all surrounded by a multitude of bluish Tchis (stylized clouds of Chinese inspiration).
