VERY NICE TABLE "HUNTING SCENE" ATTRIBUTED... - Lot 213 - Paris Oise Enchères
VERY NICE TABLE "HUNTING SCENE" ATTRIBUTED TO Jan FYT (1611-1661) Beautiful vibrant and moving painting of a spaniel approaching a hunting picture"." Oil on canvas 99 x 106 cm In 1631 he joined the Guild of Saint Luke of Antwerp as a master. He travels to Paris in 1633 and 1634, and probably to Italy on undetermined dates. He settled in Antwerp in 1641. He was trained by Frans Snyders (1579-1657), also a painter from Antwerp, to whom he is often compared, without however recognising the same talent, except for animal subjects and especially plumage and furs, for which he is famous. He mainly paints still lifes where the presence of game (often hares) is essential.
