IMPORTANT 1925 LAMPADAIRE OF Georges THIRION... - Lot 108 - Paris Oise Enchères
IMPORTANT 1925 LAMPADAIRE OF Georges THIRION (1882-1946) AND ATTR. IN SCHNEIDER In wrought iron, with futon and tripod base decorated with scrolls, surmounted by a lilac frieze supporting a coloured glass paste globe attributed to SCHNEIDER. Signed "G. Thirion". 20th century period. H: 182 x D: 66 cm Georges Thirion (1882-1946) was a blacksmith. After learning ironwork techniques in Paris in 1900, he moved to Le Creusot where he worked on drilling chisels for the Schneider factories. But above all, he set up as a locksmith and made his own art deco inspired works, thus earning his reputation by creating what seemed impossible at the time: the forge of lilac flowers.
