His work is part of orientalism. He belongs to the painters of the School of Algiers. His childhood took place in Algiers during the Belle Époque. During the First World War, he entered the School of Fine Arts in Algiers. Paul Fenasse was a friend of the sculptor Paul Belmondo. They were on the same bench at the Dordor primary school in Algiers and later met again at the School of Fine Arts. His paintings were successful quite quickly. The Society of French Orientalist painters quickly became interested in his works, which were regularly exhibited at the Salon des peintres orientalistes français in Paris. The General Government of Algeria hired him on several occasions to paint large formats in the Sahara or in the Aurès. The craze for Orientalism brought the painters of the School of Algiers back into the limelight.
