Bibliography: blog "glass and crystal", article dated February 8, 2014 "Founded by Louis APPERT in 1835 in Clichy, this company specializes in the supply of glass, enamel, colored crystals to glass factories that do not have a melting furnace to produce glass or crystal in its raw state. This was the case for Emile Gallé's crystal works until 1896. Appert brothers were "the glassmakers of the glassmakers". The two sons of the founder brought a considerable development. One of them, Léon, a skilled technician, was the rapporteur of the jury on glass at the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1889. Located in Clichy at 4, rue des Chasses, the company's activity extended to blanks for decoration and finishing workshops such as the enamellers Brocard and Imberton, as well as to finished products either for its own account or for third parties, such as Eugène Rousseau. The latter owes much to the Appert brothers. The company was closed in 1947."
